DESCRIPTION: A frequent theme in Japanese textiles is the imaginary flower, known as Karabana, and is considered Chinese in origin. Against a most vivid background of orange, soft shades of green outlined in white form the body of the flower. Gold coated threads are abundant in the central pattern as well as on the outer edge. The symmetry of the Karabana is one of its hallmarks, and creates a strong but vivid presentation. |
