DESCRIPTION: The crane (Tsuru) is one of the most traditional symbols used in Japanese design as it represents longevity. Here the crane has be abstracted into a highly streamlined rendering. The wings are stretched upward in flight, projecting the crane's energy and purpose. While the bodies of the cranes are woven in gold coated threads, the wings of the central crane communicate their lightness with silver coated threads woven into a matte white background. The bright green background depicts clouds using shades of green. |
